Composite Rankings of Economic Development

The table below gives the rank of Sampson County based on a composite index of economic development. The index is available for all 100 counties in the state. Low values mean higher levels of economic development. Factors in the composite ranking included ability to create jobs, ability to earn adequate income, ability to keep the local labor force employed, ability to attract income from other regions and ability to reduce poverty.

Sampson County Economic Development Investment Policy

The Sampson County Board of Commissioners and the Sampson County Economic Development Commission has determined that the general welfare of the residents of Sampson County is directly benefited by fiduciarily sound economic development polices that promote the growth and diversity of the local economy and result in the creation of more high quality, well paying jobs.

On May 1, 2000, the Sampson County Board of Commissioners adopted the Sampson County Economic Development Investment Policy (EDIP).

The Sampson County Economic Development Investment Policy is available to prospective industries that are interested in calling Sampson County home as well as to the industries that are currently located in Sampson County. You can view a copy online here.

State and Other Incentives

The City of Clinton has been designated as an Economic Development Zone providing additional incentives.

Industrial training for new and/or expanding industries is available in all counties irrespective to the socio-economic conditions.

Local and regional incentives are available.

North Carolina is now offering many new Jobs and Investment Tax Credits for both new and expanding companies under the William S. Lee Act. County firms eligible for credits include those in manufacturing and processing, warehousing and distribution and data processing.
