TRANSPORTATION

Located in the heart of North Carolina’s coastal plain, Sampson County is served by a transportation network ideal for practically any type industry. The major north-south route, Interstate 95, borders the western portion of the county. Interstate 40, the east-west corridor which stretches from Wilmington, North Carolina to Barstow, California, extends twenty miles through the northeast section of the county. Major highways such as US 421, US 701, US 13 and NC 24 transverse the county connecting not only the interstate thoroughfares; but also affording direct access to both of the state’s deep water ports, the capitol city and the Raleigh/Durham International Airport.


Commercial air service is also available fifteen minutes from the county in Fayetteville, North Carolina. In addition, the county offers its residents and industries the convenience of the Clinton-Sampson Airport. This municipal facility includes a newly constructed terminal and a 4,220 lighted soon to be expanded to 5,000 feet.
