NCDA&CS Announces Grant Opportunity for Value-Added Agricultural Processing

Raleigh, NC - Applications are now being accepted for the N.C. Agriculture Manufacturing and Processing Initiative (NCAMPI), a grant program designed to support the development and expansion of value-added agricultural manufacturing and food processing facilities across North Carolina. The program includes $4.3 million in available funding for eligible projects.

“This program opens new doors for farmers and agribusiness owners while providing consumers with more locally produced foods and products,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “By supporting value-added opportunities, farmers can earn greater returns from their raw commodities, and this initiative strengthens our ongoing efforts to expand local food production capacity.”

Established by the N.C. General Assembly in 2023, the initiative is administered by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Who Should Apply

Agribusinesses, entrepreneurs, and organizations interested in creating or expanding agricultural processing capacity in North Carolina are encouraged to apply. Potential applicants are also invited to contact NCDA&CS before submitting an application to discuss project ideas and determine eligibility.

To start the conversation, email the Marketing Division at ncampi@ncagr.gov.

Program Goals

The initiative is designed to:

  • Support agricultural processing opportunities that create jobs, strengthen local tax bases, and improve profitability for North Carolina farmers and growers.
  • Identify and assess opportunities to expand value-added processing of commodities produced in the state and address geographic or commodity gaps.
  • Market and recruit new facilities that can help meet these needs.
  • Provide funding to selected applicants for eligible costs associated with establishing or expanding agricultural manufacturing and processing operations in North Carolina.
